In Memory Of

Kenny Ali: 1957-2011

In Memory of Kenny Ali:

Men and Women for Human Excellence, Inc. (MWFHE) dedicate all of our efforts in the provision of drug and alcohol and mental health recovery services to the memory of our Co-Founder Kenny Ali (1957-2011). We are devoted to continuing the same exemplary recovery services that were distinguished by the drive and commitment of Kenny Ali when MWFHE was first founded in 2001. Each of us has personally dedicated ourselves to assure that MWFHE will keep on the path that was blazed by the visions and capacity for love that Kenny Ali exhibited.

During the year of 2011, under the direction and guidance of Kenny Ali, we were able to continue and complete the renovation of the entire first floor of our building located at 2600 W. Cecil B. Moore Avenue. The first floor is currently being used to facilitate group therapy sessions for psycho therapy and psycho education; and our lunch program which is open to members of our entire neighborhood community. The first floor space is also available for community activities, functions and community programming by request.

As of March 18, 2015, the renovation of the second floor at 2600 W. Cecil B. Moore Avenue is almost complete, with only minor cosmetic finishing touches needing to be made. We expect to complete the renovations by the end of March 2015. By April 6, 2015, MWFHE will move our entire Drug and Alcohol Program into 2600 W. Cecil B. Moore Avenue, with our entire Mental Health program and Administrative Offices located at 2603 W. Cecil B. Moore Avenue. All group therapy sessions will continue to be held on the first floor of 2600 W. Cecil B. Moore Avenue.

MWFHE will schedule a building dedication ceremony honoring Kenny Ali and officially naming the building after him in May of 2015.

Richard Chappelle: 1945-2019

In Memory of Richard Chappelle:

MWFHE Executive Director (1945-2019) Richard Chappelle was a fine gentleman, and he will be sorely missed by Men and Women for Human Excellence, Inc. CEO, Board members’, staff, clients and community members. During Richard’s many years of service to the organization, he worked hard at leading the organization to the efficient execution of its mission. As the longest-serving Executive Director in MWFHE, Richard Chappelle played an integral role in that growth. We can honor his memory by continuing to work to support MWFHE organization he loved so much, and by standing firm on the conservative ideas he represented so well.
